Lemonade is very refreshing drink all year around, but in summer, days like this, what we having in this week in New Jersey and all over the country, 100 and plus degrees temperature everyday, cold drinks are especially popular. Lemonade is easy to make and only needs 3 ingredients: lemon, water and white sugar. Using simple syrup is the key of perfect lemonade.
1 cup sugar
6 cups cold water
1. Make a simple syrup: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water to a boil, simmer until sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
Make a head: The syrup can be refrigerated in a glass jar for up to 1 month.
2. Juice the lemons, to make 1 cup of juice. For easy juicing roll the lemons against a flat surface with your palms, such as counter or table top.
3. Mix lemon juice, simple syrup and 4 - 5 cups cold water in a pitcher. Pour over ice filled glasses and garnish with slice of lemon or fresh mint sprig.
